It’s a good idea to dress for the interview in a way that represents the Popeyes staff dress code for the position you’re interviewing for.

For an entry-level role such as a cook, cashier, or team member wear black pants, a burnt orange polo shirt, and dark, non-slip shoes. Make sure to remove any excessive piercings, facial hair, or false nails.

For a supervisory or managerial role such as an assistant manager, manager, or general manager wear a blue button-down shirt tucked into black pants.

Popeyes Interview Questions and Answers

Now, let’s cover the common interview questions and example answers for those looking to find work at Popeyes:

1. Why Do You Want to Work at Popeyes?

The interviewer wants to know why you want to work at Popeyes and how it fits with your goals for your future.

Sample answer:

“One of the things that appeal to me most about Popeye’s is the attention and support it gives to its franchise owners. I read that the most successful franchise owners get recorded in Popeye’s ‘Hall of Fame.’

I really admire the entrepreneurial spirit of business owners. In the future, I’d like to own a franchise of a restaurant like Popeye’s myself.

To do that, though, I not only need to earn the start-up capital, I also need to learn how to run a restaurant. There’s no better way to do that than working in the restaurant, which is why I’m so excited about this opportunity.”

2. What Can You Tell Us About Popeyes?

The interviewer wants to know if you’ve done your research and if you’re invested in the process.

Sample answer:

“I know a few things. For example, I know that Popeye’s offers most of its dishes in mild and spicy flavors and that it debuted a new chicken sandwich in 2019.

That really appeals to me because it’s exciting when a company isn’t afraid to innovate. It’s important to update your products and services to keep pace with the times. I like that Popeye recognizes that and has success with it.

I’m sure there’s still a lot I have to learn, though. I’d love to hear anything you can tell me about the company’s plans for the future.”

3. Why Should We Hire You?

The interviewer wants to know if you believe that you deserve the role and if you have the confidence to make a case for yourself.

Sample answer:

“In your job description, I see you’re looking for someone with excellent customer service skills. That’s me to a tee. I’m a people person with a talent for problem-solving. I just love helping people and coming up with solutions to those everyday problems that we all face.

I remember in my last position at a retail clothing store, I spent most of my time working with customers. I routinely had the best sales numbers in the store because my priority was always solving customers’ problems and helping people find exactly the outfit they were looking for.

I’ve wanted to get some experience in food service for a long time, and I’m really excited about this opportunity. I think my customer service experience and personality would translate really well into the position.”

4. How Would You Describe Your Work Ethic?

The interviewer wants to know who you are as a person and what kind of work they can expect from you.

Sample answer:

“Above all, I’d describe my work ethic as committed and enthusiastic. No matter what the day throws at me, I strive to meet it with a smile on my face.

In my experience, all jobs–and life in general–tend to have ups and downs. But staying positive, enthusiastic, and determined can help you weather the bad times and make the most of the good.

For example, in my previous customer service roles, I’ve committed myself to staying enthusiastic about even the most difficult tasks. That commitment and enthusiasm carries me through and allows me to do well, no matter what.”

5. Can You Talk About What Makes You Unique?

The interviewer wants to know what gives you an advantage over other candidates and what makes you different.

Sample answer:

“I’m very unique in that I thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure environments. I’m kind of an adrenaline junkie; I just love the thrill of getting the job done.

In my last position, I worked as a server at a restaurant with legendary lunch rushes. A lot of people couldn’t handle the stress–but I loved it. The hustle and bustle was an environment where I could thrive.

Any food service position tends to have those same periods of high demand. It’s just a very time-bound industry. My love of the lunch rush would translate really well at Popeye’s.”

  2. Tell me about a challenge you’ve had to overcome.
  3. Describe your relationship with your coworkers.
  4. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
  5. What’s a skill you’d like to improve?
  6. Do you have any food service experience?
  7. How do you handle difficult customers?
  8. What are your salary expectations?
  9. What excites you most about the position?
  10. How did you learn about this opportunity?
